I just received some news from the VUDU team that they have just launched “VUDU TO GO”, a new feature that allows its customers to download movies they have purchased and watch them on their computers later without an internet connection. Now they just need to change to a pricing structure that is more feasible or just change it to what Netflix has setup, a monthly “Pay and watch all you want” service.

If you head on over to Firefox you can now get their latest browser version number 7. The newest version supposivley improves memory handling and is suppose to be faster than some of the other browsers.

PC world has posted an article saying Microsoft is going to release Windows 8 preview tonight at 8PM Pacific time. The release will be in a form of an ISO file in either 32bit or 64bit on their developers site. Although I did not see in the article if its going to be a public release, there has already been news reported that Microsoft plans to release a public beta and maybe this is it.

It is also important to note that you will have to do a fresh install if you plan on using this. You should never use any kind of test software such as beta releases on real environments because they can always fail.

MacRumors has posted an article about how the iPhone case dimensions suggest that the iPhone 5 should be slightly bigger than the iPhone 4 with a 4-inch screen size. Not only will it be bigger but the case dimensions also suggest the phone will be slightly thinner. Even though they don’t have any definite answers on the size of the iPhone 5, Apple is supposedly expected to reveal the iPhone 5 later this month for an October release.

Transformers: Dark Side of The Moon

Shoud you watch it? Yes, this was a great movie and had a very interesting ending. One thing that upset me was the fact that they switched Fox for another girl, and they made the plot to the story really cheesy on how she came to be. Other than that I’ll give it a full 8/10.

X-Men: First Class

Great movie. I like how they went back to show how the X-Men actually came to be. The movie also shows how a lot of the characters became how they are. For example they show how Professor X became crippled. Overall I give this movie a 8/10.

Hannah

Wow, Wow, and Wow. This was a great movie full of a lot of action in my mind. The main character in this movie, known as Hanna, goes around kicking ass and taking names. I give this movie a 9/10.

Thor

A lot of people did not enjoy this movie. They said it did not have a lot of action was was pretty boring throughout the movie. I will have to disagree with them and say I actually enjoyed the movie a lot. I give it a 8/10.

I just read an email saying that Parallels Desktop 7 for the Mac is going to be coming out very soon. Parallels has also said that if you are a current owner of the software you are entitled to an upgrade for just $49. This is a good chance for you Parallels 5 owners who are running OS X Lion because that version and prior versions are not compatible with Lion. If you have version 6 I recommend you just stick with 6. I run version 6 and have no problems.

According to WinRumors Microsoft will be making a beta public release of Windows 8 next month. The best part about it is Microsoft has confirmed it will be easy to get. By the way “Public” means everyone gets it. But beware betas do expire so I do not recommend using it on a PC where you hold valuable data.

The software giant is currently preparing a Windows Developer Preview build of Windows 8 to be made available next month. Microsoft’s official BUILD Twitter account revealed on Friday that pre-release bits would not be secret and easy to get hold of.

According to WinRumors, “Microsoft revealed on Monday that it plans to fully support USB 3.0 in Windows 8.”.

USB 3.0 is the latest standard for USB connectivity. USB 3.0 supports transmission speeds of up to 5Gbit/s, 10x faster than USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/s). A number of laptops now support USB 3.0, including models from Sony, Toshiba and Dell.

LifeHacker, one of my favorite sites just released a how-to for doing a untethered jailbreak for your iOS 4.2.1 device. Before you get started make sure and download GreenPois0n. Once you have that downloaded just follow along with the video below or read the quoted instructions from LifeHacker.

QUOTED INSTRUCTIONS FROM LIFEHACKER

• Connect your iOS device to your computer. It’s always good to back it up before jailbreaking in case something goes wrong, but before you get started with the jailbreak you’ll want to quit iTunes.
• Download Greenpois0n and open it up. Press the jailbreak button as soon as you’re ready. Once the process starts, you’ll only have 5 seconds to get in position.
• Hold down the sleep button at the top of your iOS device for 3 seconds.
• Once the 3 seconds have passed, start holding down the home button without letting go of the sleep button. Do this for 10 seconds.
• After the 10 seconds have passed, let go of the sleep button but continue holding down the home button for about another 10 seconds. Once the Greenpois0n logo appears in the window on your computer, you can let go.
• Wait for the jailbreak to complete. It’ll finish on your computer first and the button that formerly read “Jailbreak!” will now read “Complete!” Click that to exit Greenpois0n. You can now disconnect your iOS device from your computer.
• Your iOS device will take some time to boot. It might need to boot twice. Once it does, you should find a new application on your homescreen called “Loader.” Open that up, and if the jailbreak was 100% successful you’ll see a single button that reads “Cydia.” Tap that and then tap the “Install Cydia” button that’ll pop up. This will—believe it or not—install Cydia on your iOS device. Once it’s done, you’ll have Cydia installed and your jailbreak is complete (although you may need to restart to see Cydia on your home screen).

If this doesn’t work for you and you don’t see Cydia, you’ll need to add the redsn0w jailbreak as well. You can download redsn0w here. You’ll also need the iOS 4.2.1 software for your specific device. Once you have both of these things you can run the redsn0w jailbreak on the device with the greenpois0n jailbreak already installed. Running redsn0w successfully should solve your Cydia problem if it occurs. I’ve jailbroken two 4.2.1 devices now and I’ve had the problem on only the second jailbreak, so this issue may have already been resolved.
