Joshua Topolsky is a man who always gets to take a look inside companies workplaces, like the nerds version of MTV Cribs. Recently he recieved the pleasure of getting to  see inside the Edison Lab on Microsoft’s Redmond campus. Some of the technology they showed is actually outdated and I have seen for years, but some if it is just amazing. 

Two of my favorite pieces of software, Dropbox and Sparrow are now combined to make attaching files to emails even easier. Just as simple as dragging and dropping the file into your composer window will upload the file to your Dropbox and append a link to that file within the email message. I’m sorry for you Windows users, as you are SOL because Sparrow is Mac only software. 

Google Chrome version 16 now supports multiple session or users on the same computer. This makes it easy for developers to quickly do session based testing. This is also great if you sync your bookmarks to Google and you want to be able to use two users bookmarks without having to login/out of each user to view the different bookmarks. There are a bunch of other great reasons to use this, but this is just another reason to love Chrome

If you do not know what SOPA is then maybe you should Google it, at least until they ban Google. Anyways here is a cool video for you to watch.

YES!! Microsoft has finally decided to take the path of Google Chrome and recently Firefox by automatically pushing the latest version of Internet Explorer to their customers. This is great news if you are a developer or tester. This means you will no longer have to test on older versions of IE. Even though I decided a long time ago that I will not support IE7 and below, I can not officially not have to support anything lower than IE8. 

The update will be pushed out to Australia and Brazil customers running Windows XP/Vista/7 on January before being pushed world wide.

There are many ways to learn to code, and everyone learns better by being taught different ways. If you are like me and learn by having someone show you and then doing it yourself then I would like to recommend CodeSchool.com. I have just started doing their jQurey First Flight course and I can say that I am learning at a very fast pace compared to reading a book or looking at online repositories.

With CodeSchool they have you watch a video where they explain in detail how to do something and then they have a test environment already setup where you actually do what they taught you to do. The other good thing is you can not advance in the course until you have successfully completed the examples after the video, allowing you to unlock the next chapters video.  

Although the courses they have right now are very limited and mostly geared for people trying to learn Rails, the content itself is very rich and actually entertaining. They have two kinds or pricing plans. You can either buy each course individually or pay for a monthly service allowing you to access each course. Every time you finish a course they give you $5 off your next course purchase or next monthly service fee.  Also if you are a veteran I found that they are more than willing to give you a great discount on their monthly service. For me, I think the best bet is to go with the monthly service,  because if you finish each course within a month you are saving a lot of money when compared to buying the course out right. 

I was taking a quiz today in one of my computer classes and the teacher was having difficulties with getting the quiz ready can you tell? I think the funniest part about this quiz is that it took me 17 sec to complete it.

Charter has decided to give its customers a speed boost. The new plans start at 3Mbps for $19.99 and go up to the Ultra plan of 100Mbps for $59.99 a month. But beware this is plans with a 12 month bundled contract, so if you just want the internet expect an increase in prices. It should also be noted that although the downloads are drastically increasing the uploads max out at 5Mbps for the Ultra plan.  The biggest concern that I see is that Charter does not mention if the bandwidth caps have been increased to match the new speeds or if they stayed the same.
