Lately I have been getting some threatening messages from players who are not satisfied with me banning them from my server.  They have threatened to report me for abusing my administrative powers, which is a bogus claim. To better help players fully understand the rules that they are to abide by as well as myself, I am re-posting what EA has put up as well as linking to the original content.

Players are expected to abide by the EA Online Terms and Conditions while playing on ranked Battlefield 3 servers. You agreed to the EA Online Terms and Conditions when you established your EA Account. 

The purpose of these Rules of Conduct is to illustrate how the EA Online Terms and Conditions apply when you play on ranked Battlefield 3 servers. Multiple or critical violations of the Terms and Conditions may result in the loss of online play or stat/award reset. Violation may also result in the termination of your EA Account and the loss of anything associated with it (such as points, tokens or in-game items).
 

The following are examples of conduct that is not permitted by the EA Online Terms and Conditions:

• You are not permitted to use offensive soldier names or clan tags. Also, you may not actively encourage other players to violate the EA Online Terms and Conditions while in-game.
• You may not organize any Clans or groups that are based on, or espouse, any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, anti-gay, or other hate-mongering philosophy.
• You may not attempt to interfere with, hack into, or decipher any data streams or transmissions to or from EA services, or use any application or software while using the Battlefield 3 services which are not approved by EA.
• You may not exploit any bug or abuse any game system (such as the scoring or award systems) in an EA product or service. You may not intentionally use or share any bug found within any Battlefield 3 games, real or fictitious, regardless of whether or not it grants an unfair advantage. You will not directly or indirectly communicate the existence of any such bug to any other user of EA’s games or services.
  • Examples of abuse include, but are not limited to:
    • Playing on restricted kit servers (knife, shock, and pistol only)
    • Taking turns killing, reviving, receiving ammo, etc.
    • Abusing world geometry to your advantage without risk
    • Exploiting vehicle damage to repair indefinitely
    • Creating a play environment which, by definition or action, creates an inflated scoring scenario

Ranked Server Administrators: 

If you are an administrator of a ranked Battlefield 3 server (referred to below as a “Server Administrator”), you must also comply with the EA Online Terms and Conditions.

Server Administrators are in violation of the EA Online Terms and Conditions if they enforce server rules on ranked servers that prohibit or severely limit players from using any roles, kits, weapons, vehicles, or other features of the game while playing on their server. Examples of such rules that would violate the EA Online Terms and Conditions include:

• Running knife / pistol-only servers
• Preventing players from using certain weapons or items (such as flash bangs or C4) or enforcing a “pistol only” or “knife only” server rule

Server Administrators may implement and enforce rules that result in minor changes to gameplay behavior or styles as long as these are clearly stated before a player starts playing on a server. These rules typically introduce minor or limited restrictions on how a certain aspect of the game can be used, but do not create or promote an environment that would allow abuse of the scoring/award system. Examples of such rules that are acceptable are:

• Disallowing repeated main base camping/attacking of bases that cannot be captured. 
• Limiting the use of mortars to a particular region of the map.

Server Administrators will also violate the EA Online Terms and Conditions if they (i) use offensive server names, server art or clan tags; or (ii) encourage other players to violate the EA Online Terms and Conditions while in game.

 

Exploit/Abuse Reports

• To report players who are cheating or intentionally violating the Terms and Conditions (including scoring abuse, exploits, or map errors), use the following link:

• You can also report unapproved software or applications which provide an unfair advantage or manipulate the game in a way it was not meant, to the PunkBuster staff at:research@evenbalance.com

• To report a Battlelog avatar for violating the EA Terms of Service, please right click the offending avatar and select Copy Image URL/Link.
  • Go to http://en.gravatar.com/site/abuse/ and insert the avatar link in the “Offending URL” section. 
• To report a platoon for violating the EA Terms of Service, please utilize the Report feature on Battlelog. 
• Find the offending platoon. To the right of the platoon name you will see a grey exclamation point. Click this exclamation point and select Report Platoon. 

In all cases, please provide as much information as possible when making reports. EA’s support staff will be the final decision makers regarding investigations. Intentional submissions of misinformation or false abuse reports can be considered a violation of the EA Terms and Conditions.

I just want everyone to know that I’m not dead, I’m here but very busy. I recently scored a new job working at Shasta QA as a software tester for some very important companies. I’m also in the process of creating a small PHP script for a “game” where SysSU visitors get a chance to win some cool prizes. I have also been doing a lot of backend, under the hood changes such as switching to a new commenting system and some minor CSS tweaks to help improve the overall performance and appearance here at SysSU. All this stuff is also being piled on with the holidays that eat up a lto of my free time. That is why you are not seeing a lot of new content. I’M STILL ALIVE!

So you may or may not know but Spotify, probably the most innovative music service provider is now available in the United States. Spotify works very different that what you  might be familiar with. If you live in the United States you might currently use Pandora or iTunes. Spotify is unlike Pandora where you can’t choose the exact song you want to play and unlike iTunes where you have to pay for each individual song. Spotify works off of a subscription service where you pay a monthly service fee to gain unlimited access to any song in their database at any time and the best part is it’s ad free. Right now you can only get the paid versions or get the free version off of an invite. The paid version starts at $4.99 an goes up to $9.99.

Lifehacker has posted an article on how to get an account without an invite. This requiers a bit of work but might be worth it to some of you. Apperently if you follow the steps below you should be able to get the account.

• You need to start with a UK account. To do that, you’ll need to be in the UK—or, at least, appear to be. To do that, visit DaveProxy (or another free, UK-based proxy service) and go to spotify.com. (Note: if you’re using DaveProxy, be prepared to contend with a lot of pop-up ads. Just close them as they come up. They’re harmless.)
• Sign up for an account on the UK site. You’ll need a UK zip code, but just search for McDonald’s in London and you’ll find one without issue.
• Once you have an account, sign out and go to spotify.com like you normally would in the US. You won’t see a place to log in because that’s hidden behind the signup page. Pretend you’re signing up for a premium account and you’ll see a message asking you already have an account and want to log in. You do, so click the associated link and log in.
• Go back to spotify.com and you’ll now see a black box up at the top of the site. It’ll read “continue to spotify.com.” Click on it.
• You’re in, but your account is still UK-based. You’ll see your username displayed up on the top right. Click it and choose “Edit Profile.”
• In the “Country” menu, change “United Kingdom” to “United States” and set your zip code to whatever it actually is. Save your profile when you’re done.
• Download the Spotify app and log in.

So a “reveal” trailer has been released for MW3 (watch it below). It looks pretty sweet but I can’t wait to see some game play, even more some ONLINE game play. If you haven’t preordered it don’t worry about it just go to your local Walmart as they will have more than enough copies, I realized this with Black Ops and when there was a line around GameStop but Walmart had boxes and shelves full ready to go. But the real question is, what do you want to see or not see in this game release compared to the past ones?

A group of hackers or in my mind internet terrorist have decided to attack Sony and its network because of Sony’s lawsuit against a group of people who have illegally  hacked the PS3 to make it possible to play illegal copies of games. So yea if you can’t sign onto the PlayStation Network it is because Sony is doing “sporadic maintenance” .

I just noticed that Apple has cut the price of the old iPhone 3Gs to only $49 dollars with a new two year commitment to AT&T. This makes me wonder if AT&T is trying to get some quick customers before the Verizon iPhone comes out of if Apple is trying to make way for a new iPhone release hmm.
